Precautions and Classification of Chemical Storage Tanks

Among the many types of storage tanks, chemical storage tanks are very common and widely used, primarily in the chemical industry. If we categorize chemical storage tanks, they can be divided into three types: metal, non-metal, and metal-nonmetal composite. Among them, the metal types include stainless steel and aluminum, while the non-metal types include ceramics and fiberglass.

Precautions for Chemical Storage Tanks

1. When using chemical storage tanks, if the materials are explosive, flammable, or corrosive, operations should strictly follow the relevant regulations and requirements. Violating these regulations during operation is not allowed, mainly because it is quite dangerous.

2. When performing maintenance or other work on chemical storage tanks, it is necessary to first disconnect the power supply to the related electrical equipment. Only after this can the work proceed, and if necessary, handover procedures for the equipment should also be completed.

3. When conducting operations inside a chemical storage tank, a corresponding work permit is required. If there is a long interruption, a new work permit must be obtained.

4. During operations involving chemical storage tanks, if scaffolding or lifting devices need to be set up, it must be ensured that they are sturdy and reliable to guarantee safe operations.

5. For operations inside a chemical storage tank, there must be a supervisor outside the tank, and reliable communication measures should be in place so that outside personnel can be informed of the operational status in a timely manner. In case of an emergency, effective measures can be taken immediately.

6. The sealing of the manhole on the chemical storage tank should only be carried out after the supervisor has signed and confirmed the work permit for operations inside the tank.
